On November 9, 1926 in Sneads, Florida, God blessed Jacob and Lucy Spencer with a beautiful baby girl and they named her Ollie Mae Spencer. Ollie was educated in the Public School System. Later she met and married the late Frazier Pope.
Mother Pope was a longtime and faithful member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Faison and later under Rev T.T. Shellman. Mother Pope loved the Lord and never stopped praising Him. She was also, a member of Light of the South Chapter #172 Order of the Eastern Star. Mother Pope was employed at Kendall Hospital and Lincoln Memorial Nursing Home. Her last employment was at Pine Villa Elementary School for 22 years, her favorite saying was "If you can't hear me, then you can feel me." Then she would pinch you. On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, God placed His hand upon Mother Pope's shoulder and declaring your service is needed in heaven. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her children: Ralph Spencer (preceded her in death), Carolyn Spencer Sumler, Calvin E. Pope, Cynthia Pope, and Pastor Terry J. Pope (Arlene); Siblings: John H. Spencer, Sr. and Mary D. Ross; 11 Grandchildren, 24 Great grands, and 11 Great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends.
