LAMONT GREEN SR. Obituary

Lamont Green Sr.

Born January 10th, 1976, in Miami, Florida. James Green II and Emma Green(Both preceding him in death) welcomed their baby boy to earth and named him Lamont.

Growing up in the South Miami-Dade community, Lamont took in a love for sports at an early age. Playing football for the South Dade Rams and Palmetto Raiders optimist club, and participating at Goulds park in Track and Field, which lead him to earning a spot on the prestigious Metro Dade Track Club. While representing the Metro-Dade Track Club, Lamont was able to compete all over the country and start making a name for himself and building a brand. This is also where he met the love of his life and soulmate Latonya Wooden. Together they took their talents to Miami Southridge Senior High. Where Lamont would gain National Press and become the number One football player in the country, leading Southridge to two state championships, graduating in the 1994 class of the Spartans. The journey didn’t end there. Following graduation Lamont would move to Tallahassee, Fl. and Join Bobby Bowden’s Florida state University Seminoles football team, earning a full scholarship. Which led to him being voted as team captain and winning a national championship in 1999 for the Seminoles. While continuing his journey Tallahassee Lamont graduated with his bachelors degree and married his soulmate Latonya , and to that union six kids were born.

Now a family man, Lamont finished his continuing education earning his Master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. Dedicating the next journey in life to his family, kids, and community. Often thought of as a Hometown Hero, Lamont was just your average guy that was always willing to help with whatever, whenever. Gaining employment with the Miami-Dade Public Schools, he decided to go into coaching to give back and share his knowledge of Football with kids at several schools, including having the joy to coach his son Lamont Green Jr, and watch him develop as a kid to a young man and earn himself a college scholarship as well.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, Lamont was called home to be with the lord.
